Intenso amaranto. Mora, mirtillo e ciliegia Vignola regalano complessità con vaniglia, glicine, pepe nero e foglia di mirto. Avvio del sorso in avvolgente flavor di piccoli frutti scuri, c’è stuzzicante sapidità e un tannino raffinato a modulare la pienezza del gusto. Finisce con retro aromi di spezie dolci. Allodole tartufate in casseruola.

Leuchtendes, sattes Rubin mit Nuancen von Violett. Zeigt in der Nase viel Sauerkirsche und Tabak, dezent erdige Noten. Im Trunk zunächst viel Saft, dann schwarzer Pfeffer, erfrischende Säure und reifer, griffiger Gerbstoff, anhaltendes salziges Finish.

The organic Volpaia 2020 Balico is an IGT blend of 65% Sangiovese and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Sauvignon is impossible to miss, as this wine is very driven by aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate and garden herb that are linked to that varietal. This is a medium to full-bodied red blend that also delivers the dusty crushed stone aromas that I associate with Chianti Classico. Production is 7,000 bottles.

Very pretty and floral aromas with orange blossom and currant character. Very attractive purity of fruit. It’s medium-bodied with polished and fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Tangy acidity. From organically grown grapes. Give it a year or two more but already gorgeous. Drink or hold.

The 2020 Balifico (65% Sangiovese, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon) is laced with black cherry, plum, chocolate, mocha, spice, leather and licorice. Here, too, the style is a bit pushed, but in this instance the wine has enough depth to handle it. This is nicely done, for the style.

Loaded with black cherry, blackberry and floral aromas and flavors, this red is also firmly structured. Shows persistent fruit through the lingering aftertaste, where elements of earth and Tuscan scrub emerge. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Corpo medio-pieno, struttura armonica e bilanciata ed un finale davvero notevole per gusto e carattere mediterraneo.
